Customer Reviews

It makes a great beginner or intermediate puzzleI'm new to disentanglement puzzles and this was my first one. It makes a great beginner or intermediate puzzle. I would fool with it a few minutes, set it down, and later try again to solve it. This went on for a couple of days. I finally reached the point where I thought my G&G puzzle must be defective and couldn't be solved. But I kept playing with it and like a miracle the two pieces separated in my hand. I was overjoyed!! Didn't quite know how I did it, but it gave me confidence to rejoin the two pieces and try again. Now I can take it apart quickly and easily in just a few seconds. 5Fabulous!A wonderful little puzzle. At first it seemed impossible, but eventually I got to the stage where I could take it apart and put it back together again in just a few seconds. Embarrassingly, that whole process took a total of three or four hours. It sure makes me wonder what sorts of skills are required to solve such puzzles quickly the first time. I am also left pondering what sort of mind can design such puzzles, and how those puzzles can be manufactured so well. Equally fascinating is the fact that my disassembly-assembly time is now fastest when I don't really think about the process; thinking about the individual steps just slows me down. 5decent, difficult puzzleAnother [decent] puzzle from Hanayama. Appears as if it's easy, but took a while to solve, even more so to get back together, even after we watched videos for how to do that.I did get a nasty tiny blood blister pinch from my efforts to get it back together, which I don't think has ever happened with one of my other Hanayama puzzles which are much beloved at school (elementary age). Family tested and enjoyed ages 9 to 80 on recent family vacation. I think only 3 of us solved it. We will see if it becomes a school favorite or not.----Dec Update:Less satisfying to solve. Does seem to involve a small level of force to put it back together, found even on puzzle expert solution videos online. This goes against the principle of 'force will not solve it, you need to persist to find the puzzle solution'. Bumped review down to 3 stars. Much less satisfying now that one of the 4 pieces has become lost [can't imagine stolen, since not full puzzle]. After using puzzles like these for a number of years in elementary school setting, this is the 1st to lose a piece, after only a couple of months use. [1 other puzzle was stolen.] Maybe part will still be found, time will again tell. But this isn't one I will re-purchase to replace. 3Simple and elegant.I was pleasantly surprised how much I'd like this Hanayama puzzle. The puzzle was larger than I expected and the solution wasn't as intuitively obvious as I thought it would be. That's not to say it's overly difficult. It's definitely a solid Level 3 puzzle. The star stays firmly lodged in the snake ring, but easily slips out when you get it positioned just right. Simple, elegant, and well put together. An all around good puzzle to add to one's collection. 5fun and cool lookingWe ordered 4 of these Hanayama puzzles, Padlock, enigma, O'gear, and marble. I'm embarrassed to admit, so far we have only figured out o'gear. actually, a few of our friends have also figured out o'gear, but everyone gets flustered with the others. We managed to take marble apart, but can't put it back together. Our genius brother in law, who has a top secret military job where he basicaly solves puzzles for a living (thats all he can tell about it) he became engrossed with the puzles when he came to visit, but hadn't solved them by the time he had to leave, so we ordered more and sent them to him for his birthday! Any way, they are really cool, and make for artistic, interesting looking decorations on our livingroom side table. 5[DELTA REVIEW] Great puzzle. But once it gets solved a few times it just about solves itselfThis review is for the DELTA puzzle (Triangle thriee piece)I love the look and feel of this puzzle. I was excited to get it, and it took me about 15 minutes to solve it the first time and get it back together. I then did it two more times to make sure it wasn't a fluke. However, after solving it the third time the puzzle becomes, for lack of a better term, loose. It actually just about solves itself now. And I will state I used no brute force on this puzzle at any time.Without giving away the solution, there are notches and pieces that should bump up/stop the puzzle from being solved by simply shaking/pulling. There should be a finesse to it. But that's not happening anymore. Things just slide apart and I've actually taken the puzzle apart while just trying to pick it up now.I have a bunch of puzzles on my desk at work and share them with my teammates all the time, but I will not be sharing this one because unfortunately there's no challenge left with it. Shake it a few times (Or maybe just pick it up) and it's solved.Disappointing. Hoping my next puzzle from Hanayama fares better. 2I Love It - Easy to Take Apart but a Pain to Put TogetherThis isn't the best looking Hanayama puzzle, but I was intrigued by the shape and name ('Galaxy' man, so cool). I'm glad I bought it! I'm new to puzzles but 'Level 3' seems appropriate to me. I took Galaxy apart in about 15 minutes. I suck so I googled the reassembly video, but it was still super challenging for me. I spent at least an hour doing this over and over before I mentally connected with the reassembly.I'm addicted to buying these Hanayama puzzles. People are telling me I should seek help, but they don't understand. I have six of these puzzles right now (more on the way), and they're beautiful little sculptures. 5GREAT PRODUCT ! ! ! ! YOU WON'T STOP WITH JUST ONE ! ! ! !This is an extremely well made, beautifully done puzzle. Congratulations. Perfectly done from top to bottom. You won't be disappointed. Design, price, material, packaging. All first class. Makes a great keepsake. I was so impressed, I bought several and gave them as gifts. So many are so cute and challenging I had to buy them for myself too. I have a collection now and will repeat this review for all of them. They are just fabulous for busy hands and curious minds. Put them on your desk and coffee table. People can't help but pick them up. They look like they'll last for ever. Again, you will not be disappointed with this product. My bet, you will end up buying more than one ! ! ! ! 5Surprisingly harder than I expectedI bought 3 puzzles, the Galaxy, Doughnuts and Nut Case. The Nut Case was a 6 (most difficult I think). I had it solved in under 15 minutes and could consistently take it apart and put it back together in under 30 minutes. The Galaxy came apart fast enough but it took me over an hour to get it back together. The first time it was luck and it took several more hours to be able to consistently take it apart and put it back together. Doughnuts was somewhere in between but closer to the Nut Case... I enjoy these kids of things and would buy them all again. 5GREAT PRODUCT ! ! ! ! YOU WON'T STOP WITH JUST ONE ! ! ! !This is an extremely well made, beautifully done puzzle. Congratulations.
