Customer Reviews

Hilarious Fun!Our 4 and 7 year olds loved this game. Be aware though that it's a fast paced, intense game and if your child is naturally intense, competitive or doesn't like losing then they can easily get frustrated. My 7 year old had lots of tears over not being able to get the bug into his corner while his sisters already had 4 chips! 5Would Buy This Game Again Anytime!A surprisingly fun game! It requires you to problem solve and predict your opponent(s) next move. My 4 year old is great with mazes and loves this challenge! There are so many different possible outcomes. Also, a fun lesson to be a good sport, as it is very interactive. The bug will run out of battery after a few hours, but the instructions tell you what to purchase. I think I got 20 for 7 bucks. I also learned there are more of these bugs in different shapes and sizes! Pretty cool if you want more! Of course a definite choking hazard for little children, so follow all directions.Sturdy game board and I would buy this game again in a heartbeat!! 5We love this game! The thing I love most about this game is that my three year old and my nine year old (and I) can all play together! Yes, my three year old doesn't really understand how she needs to move the pieces to make it go her way but she believes she is playing with her big brother and that makes me happy. You only need one hexbug to play, I wasn't sure of that before I bought it so we bought an extra hexbug just in case, but everyone uses the same hexbug in the game. The only downfall I can think of to the game is that only four players can play. 4fast-moving family fun! Literally! This is a fast-paced fun family game! There are different board configurations to start out with, and different objectives such as either trapping the bug in your kitchen or keeping it out. The player takes a turn by rolling the dice and then rotating a corresponding utensil as the dice indicates. I play this with my young 5 year old, and he loves it. He has to make quick decisions because the bug is fast and unpredictable. The game is lighthearted, quick, and can also be intense! Good for little ones exercising some strategy but you have to move fast!If you found this review helpful, please click the helpful button 4Fun for Adults and Kids!At first, Bugs in the Kitchen simply seemed like an entertaining, silly children's game with its maze and electronic bug--and there really is nothing wrong with that. I quickly realized, though, that there is a lot of educational value to this game. Seems like a win-win!My grandchildren, ages 4 and 11, and 6-year-old niece were very excited to play, especially once they saw that bug scampering around the game board! It was only moments before everyone was caught up in the excitement--cheering, laughing, and strategizing. It takes a fair amount of strategy, a lot of focus, and a little luck to catch that annoying cockroach. The children and adults loved the fast-paced playing--once we understood how to manipulate the utensils to guide the bug.I like that the game was put together and the instructions were read and understood by my 11-year-old granddaughter. And I like that the children can totally play it by themselves if an adult is not available. So far, though, the adults have been happy to play it with the children. My four-year old grandson is currently entertaining himself with the game and trying to explain how to play it to his two-year-old cousin. Even though the game is recommended for six and older, it seems to be quite entertaining for the two of them.I would definitely recommend Bugs in the Kitchen. 5Very funny, and even better if you buy extra bugs I purchased this game for my 5 year old, and he has really like it. He often plays it alone, just letting the bug run around. The game includes only one bug with a single battery, so if you do not want the fun to end after only a couple of hours, better buy a battery pack such as Energizer LR44 1.5V Button Cell Battery 20 pack (Replaces: LR44, CR44, SR44, 357, SR44W, AG13, G13, A76, A-76, PX76, 675, 1166a, LR44H, V13GA, GP76A, L1154, RW82B, EPX76, SR44SW, 303, SR44, S303, S357, SP303, SR44SW) "Energizer Brand Name Batteries".My son liked the game so much, that I eventually bought him some more bugs (HEXBUG Nano Nitro 5 Pack Toy), so we can play with more than one at once as I show in the video! 5ANOTHER RAVENSBURGER HIT!!!Wow! This is an amazing game! I have been buying games for my family for 30+ years. One of our all time Ravensburger favorites is Labyrinth which I played with my kids when they were little and now play with them on occasion as young adults. Ravensburgers "Bugs in the Kitchen' is a new favorite of the kids that i watch in my in home daycare. I watch little kids who are between the age of 3-5 so I had my doubts about this game being appropriate for them. But this game was a huge hit. Be sure to follow the instructions in setting up the board since I had thought I was "smart" enough to do it without reading them which resulted in some loose pieces not fitting properly. Once I explained to the kids how to play it took them only a couple of rounds before they caught on. Of course the youngest ones enjoyed watching the bug running around more than actually playing the game but they were able to participate by rolling the dice and moving the silverware piece. The older kids actually were using strategy to figure out where the bug was going to move to get around the maze. They wanted the bug to land in their section of course and they thought and rethought (sometimes out loud) about how their move would effect the movement of the bug. The game arrived from Amazon quickly and we have already played it multiple times in the short amount of time I have owned it. The board and pieces are sturdy, as is all of the Ravensburger games, and I expect for it to last a long time. The bug has a replaceable battery so not problem there. This is a great family game for adults and kids to play together. Additionally it could be played solo and still be lots of fun! I look forward to using this game for many years to come. 5~~ Skill, speed and a little chance ALL required for this FUN game! ~~PLEASE NOTE: This will take an adult or older child (teenager) a few minutes to assemble BEFORE you can start playing. Everything you need is in the box and once this game is assembled it can stay in the box which is definitely an added bonus. Instructions are included and PLEASE make sure you put the utensils in the correct positions as shown. They click in place and not designed to come off at the end of each game.Aim of the game? To get the bug to go into your food compartment of which there are FOUR to choose from: fish, cheese, chocolate and bread. If less than four people are playing, blocks are included to block off up to two entrances. The size of the box/board is approximately 16 3/4" x 11 1/2". Size of bug is 4 11/16" in length. How do you get the bug to go into your food? You roll the die. On that die there is a fork, spoon, knife and three question marks. If it lands on a specific utensil you can only rotate the said one. If, however, it falls on a question mark you can rotate whichever utensil you desire. The aim is to block the ant going to your competitors but it is definitely not as easy as it looks. Speed does play a part in this game so for younger kids could cause some frustration. The bug? It just moves around at random in the area it is being allowed making a clicking noise. The LR44 battery required is provided. Our daughter purchased this for her young brother's birthday and it has been a definite HIT! Would highly recommend for those of you looking for a new, fast paced and exciting game. The first one to get 5 tokens is the WINNER! Happy playing, Liz 5Extremely fun for kids and adults. We are avid board gamers, and are working to get our two younger children (4 and 6) involved in board games. They love this game - and are constantly asking us to play it with them (which we usually oblige). It's simple enough for both of them to quickly understand, and they don't need to read to play it.Pros:- High quality build. Snap it together once, then it's ready to play forever. No assembly / disassembly on a regular basis.- It's fun and quick. A full game of 5 captures takes around 10 minutes. Real minutes, not board game designer minutes.- It involves random luck, certainly, but also skill and foresight on where to set yourself up for success. The die and the bug both are random, which makes it challenging for adults to beat kids - and fun for both.Cons:- The bug sometimes gets a bit stuck, but usually manages to work himself free soon enough. 5Fast-paced. Fun. Original. Entertaining. This game is absolutely one of the best board games I have every played.1. Game board is super high quality. Sure it is cardboard and plastic, but the pieces feel secure and well made.2. The roach is so fun! You never know quite how it is going to move, so even strategic plays can be left a but up to chance.3. Supports 2-4 players.4. Due to gameplay variants there's a few fun ways to you change up how the gameboard starts and the conditions to win or lose.5. Really a blast from ages 6-??. I have played with small children as well as my 30 year old brother (after a drink or two) and we end up having a blast everytime.6. No one will expect this game! Being a German game, you can score some originality points when you show up with this.Overall, way cooler than many other games. Just be ready to get an extra battery for the roach. Well worth the price! 5
