Customer Reviews

It's worth spending the extra money if you're really into electronics. This is a great way to keep your experiments and projects organized. Prototyping complicated circuits takes a while to wire so having to take it down just to do another project is annoying. I have several of these and other smaller bread boards. Its important to get breadboards that aren't made cheaply. You don't want to be having trouble getting expensive components in and out of them. Plus with this board you never have to worry about not having enough space. 5A MUST FOR ECE StudentsI love this board and the quality is amazing. Not only has it helped me build circuits on the go for my courses but it saved me all the time in the world. ALL and ANY ECE student needs this. The quality is phenomenal i truly mean this its amazing and durable. I cant even begin to describe how amazing this board is.. I bought it about 6 months ago and with consistent use almost everyday running about 10 V through i yet have seen an issue. This saves time and allows you to take your projects home with you after lab to finish. I really do recommend this one to anyone taking Electrical Engineering Undergrad. 5What an Arduino / microcontroller space saver - even though it's bigger than all my breadboards! For the past few months I have been battling with a "rats' nest" of jumper wires, Radio Shack breadboards, an electronics learning lab, and various microcontroller modules that were integrated well, but aesthetically and visually frustrating and confusing.I ordered an el-cheapo breadboard here and there, seemed to have messed it up over time, and then used it as a platform for a prototype before developing my PCB. But NEVER was I able to get my entire system under development on one board and looking good until I ordered the Elenco Breadboard set.I would say that this product falls into the "better" category of "good, better, and best," and that the boards themselves are of better quality than a lot of budget breadboards out there on the Amazon marketplace. The power connectors are of the same quality as the small Radio Shack breadboard mounted on a metal plate - I see no real quality difference between other such components on other products on the market, so when folks say that these connectors are cheap and easily broken I'll have to disagree. The most convenient thing about this board is that on one unit you can break out into multiple voltages to power different IC's and modules. For example, the 5v and 3.3v logic levels are used throughout my microcontroller-centered design, and if you shop around you'll see that if you're going to integrate newer IC's or modules with something like 5v Arduino logic levels, you'll need to run different buses with different voltages. You can do this all on one board. Also, you can set up voltage regulation circuits for each required voltage / sub-circuit on the board. Finally, you don't have to remove everything on your breadboard to test something out again, because there's so much room here! Your code can get more comprehensive without creating a scattered mess of protoboards across your workspace. In short this fancy breadboard is of good/better quality compared to what I've used in the past, and the jumper kit comes with about twice as many jumpers as come with the Radio Shack breadboard jumper kit - and they are of the same lengths and exact same colors. So use your same organizer! This is a great upgrade if you're moving beyond a simple small breadboard application into something larger, or if you're tired of swapping out components (risking damage with every change-out), saving your concepts in "Fritzing," and then testing something else. This is a time and space saver that's worth every penny of the price I paid. 4Great addition to my toolsI bought this breadboard to replace my old single breadboard and I got to say I am really happy with my purchase. Having 4 breadboards helps a lot, specially when you are working with micro-controllers because they take up a lot of space. Since I got it, I have been doing some projects in it and everything fits nice with exception of the resistors from time to time, but as we all know, resistor's legs are so thin they will bend in almost any breadboard out there. The wire set that comes with this breadboard is amazing. It saves a lot of time having this wires ready to connect than rather having to cut and strip new wire. And I liked it so much that I bought another set of wires just like the one that comes with this breadboard because most of the small wires run out quickly. It comes with a lot of large cables and a few of the other sizes, but it mostly depends on what you are going to do. Since what I always do I like it to take the fewest space possible, I put everything close to each other and I have to use a lot of the short wires. 5The jumper wires are nice if you're lazyThe quality of this board seemed O.K, besides the powder coating, and decals. There was a scuff mark on the back, and the decals for hot and neutral were not applied with care, they were broken in a couple of spots. The jumper wires are nice if you're lazy. I think you are better off buying your own wire and making your own, just make sure to check the breadboard manufacturer for wire size. All in all, I would NOT recommend this product. There are to many other products that will do what his one does for a fraction of the price. 1The "little things" cost it a star...As many people noted, it's a breadboard so there's not much to say. The contacts I've used so far are all electrically sound, and I'm very happy with my purchase. My only nits, and thus a 1/2 star deduction (if Amazon allowed for a 4.5 star rating, that's what I would have given it), are:1. The adhesive on the little rubber feet wasn't up to the task. I ended up having to dot them with some CA glue.3. The kit comes with 4 feet, presumably one for each corner. Given the size of the board, it would have been nice to have gotten a 5th foot to place in the center for added support.2. The 4 power terminals, unlike the rest of the board, are... cheap. It's hard to describe what I mean, but suffice to say one notices material quality, or lack thereof, as compared to the rest of the board.I guess you can consider the added jumper kit either a great value, or an overpriced stand-alone (see Elenco 350 Piece Pre-formed Jumper Wire Kit). You can buy this same breadboard on Amazon for a $1.30 less if you don't want the pre-cut jumper wire set 9440 Breadboard-Prototype Design Aid, but personally I think this wire kit for that price delta is money very well spent... if only for the little parts box*. Needless to say, I'm in the "great value" camp. In fact, if I could get just the case w/ jumpers for $1.30 as a stand-alone, I'd order several more.*DISCLAIMER. Who knows if this pricing will hold in the future. Do yourself a favor and compare before buying. 4Most definitely a worthwhile investment.Absolutely worth every cent. First of all, this is a really nice big size, so largely projects have room to spread out a little, or two small projects can run at the same time. It is mostly a high quality board, too, although the bolt-on terminals feel a bit cheap. The jumper-wire kit is well made, too. It contains a nice mix of wire lengths to make even the tedious point-to-point chip jumps easy. The only issue, and it is quite a minor one, is that there are power runs between each row of sockets, so it is not possible to make a simple connection between rows, such as using a driver chip connected to an LED bar graph. It is possible to jumpers across the power run and make it work, but it requires setting up extra jumpers. If the power runs aligned with the other sockets it would be possible to skips this, but the power run sockets are not matched up. Otherwise it is a good board and well worth it. 5Nice. Very Nice.I wasn't expecting much. Sorry Elenco but I never really considered Elenco to be top of the line stuff. This breadboard exceeded my expectations. The boards are mounted well and the holes seem like they will stand up well to constant use. When putting on the banana jacks notice they are keyed both top and bottom. Line upt the flat ends in the hold when you tighten and they will stay in place.I'll buy again and won't turn my nose up at Elenco products without trying them. 5Cheap/Ordinary quality but good enoughThis breadboard is nice and big, however I am a bit disappointed with its quality. The aluminium / metal base is rather thin so there's a bit of flex going on. They supplied four adhesive rubber feet, which I installed on the four corners but these aren't enough. The middle of the board will flex/bend when you push things into it. I would probably add two or three more along the middle. The edges aren't very smooth, and although they aren't very sharp either, I will one day file them. The plastic terminals also feel cheap and not very easy to install. It requires a bit of finesse to do it so that they'd align into the holes properly - because they have a "D" shape to prevent them from spinning. Because it doesn't really go deep into the base and because the metal base is also thin, a less than perfect fit might not be noticeable. The breadboard itself is good enough for me and certainly very usable. Time will tell whether it would last.I don't use the included jumper wire set. Instead, I got a bunch of flexible breadboard jumper wires which are a lot easier to work with and very re-usable. 3Good Sized, Versatile Breadboard KitPurchased this breadboard as a hobbyist expanding my knowledge in electronics. The board itself is nicely sized (large), and allows for pretty decent sized circuits to be constructed. Basically, it is 4 standard breadboards side by side, with an additional bus strip run horizontally on the top, all connected to a solid backing. 4 binding posts allow for additional external components to be connected. It looks like it should last quite a while if treated well. The jumper wires are of a very wide length of sizes, and allow for easy color coding when working in complex circuit prototyping. The box the come in (clear instead of the blue shown) allowed for easy organizing of the different sizes.Overall, it's a pretty good combo, and reasonably priced for the size of board you get. Other than that, it's not too complicated of an item, so there's not really much else to say. 2 Thumbs up! 5
