Customer Reviews

Great classic gameGreat, classic game. My 9yo son loves it. Don't like that you have to put stickers on all the pieces to start. And, photos are harder to identify the ranks than the old version. Still a good game. 4Great Strategy GameMy son kept seeing the commercial for this game over the holiday season and asking for it. Being that he s only 5 1/2, I thought he d never be able to play. We set it up a few nights ago and was pleased to see there were different versions to play. We played the Duel version and he took to the game quite easily. If you like chess, you d like this game.My only negative comment is that we are constantly having to turn the game pieces around because the stickers go on the front and all pieces are identical from the back. 5unplayable out of the boxStratego is a classic game. It's too bad that this version was so bad. The pieces are unmarked, and you are given stickers to put on them to identify the pieces. Not only are the numbers on the stickers difficult to see, the stickers easily tore as they are not perforated enough to tear off easily nor is it possible to cut and tear them off cleanly. This product should have never made it to the sales floor. 1This is nothing like the original game from decades agoThis is absolutely nothing like the original! My dogs ruined my original from the 80 s and it was a nice set. This so called original you have to put cheap stickers on the pieces. The original had the symbol and name embossed on the piece. Plus my original had numerous 9s which were scouts. They have the numbering all backwards in this one! 1Great game but...Not the original stratego board and pieces but it is the classic game. The game itself is great, but I wouldn t purchase this set again mostly due to the astectics of the board and pieces. One annoying thing about this set is you have about 80 game pieces, all of which require you to place these tiny stickers on when you first open the box which indicate what each piece does. It takes 15+ minutes to do and is quite tedious. 3Fun for 8 year olds and teens.I LOVE this game! It is so much fun! We bought this game for my eight year old son after he played at a friends house, thinking it would make a good Christmas gift. It has been an amazing gift! My son loves challenging his cousins, and friends to games and even us. It s kind of a mix of strategy between chess and risk.My teenage nephew came over and I pulled it out, and he got into the game too. We had the best time trying to deceive each other on where our spy was, or where our bombs were hidden. It s a great game! 5"Original Game" isn't thatAfter a 30 year hiatus from Stratego, I was SO excited to break open this classic and show my kids. Sigh, what a disappointment. The title of the game "Stratego Original" suggested that, well, this would be the original game. Unfortunately the pieces and art are not original, and what you get instead is a blurry and indistinct game board, and obtuse little round plastic pieces with nearly identical stickers (that you need to put on yourself). But the real problem with this game is that the numbers on the stickers (which are the essence of the game) are tiny, and nearly illegible against the background. In particular, the white letters on the "3", "5", "7", "8" vanish into the light blue background. This game is first and foremost about placing a large number of pieces on a game board, and dynamically adjusting to your opponent's position and play. If you can't see the value of your own pieces, it makes the game difficult to get into. The original had cute little castle shaped pieces with gold letters on red or blue background: nice an easy to read. I will now be spending my evening writing in black permanent ink the values of each piece so that I can enjoy this game. Sad. 1Fun two player game if you get bored of ChessThis is the best version of Stratego I've played. It is fun for two players and seems more enjoyable to replay it sooner than Chess because the set up is different each time. When you first get it, it will take a while to put all the stickers on each piece, but once you are done you are good to go from then on.It has a divider board to block the view of your pieces during set up too. 5Fun Games, fairly well made, but not fun applying all those stickers on the game pieces. This is a fairly-well made board game, but I have one gripe about it...Back in the 1970's, an older version of this game has SOLID plastic pieces with a relief image filled in with metallic paint to my best recollection. This version has stickers on hollow plastic pieces. While the graphics on the stickers are nice and possibly easier to read than the much older version of the game, my gripe is that YOU HAVE TO PUT ALL 82 STICKERS ON YOURSELF.No board game should take you an hour or more to assemble, in my humble opinion. It took me over an hour of tedious sticker application before I could play. It is an absolutely mind-numbing task, not to mention difficult to get the sticker to seated within the application area as the tolerance for error is low. (In other words, it's easy to put it on crooked.)I think that for that price that I paid they should have have some guy in China, where the game was made, apply the stickers for me. 3Not the originalI don't know what "original" is supposed to mean. The values are reversed from the original (10 is the new most powerful piece, and 1 is the new spy). The pieces are new, with less timeless graphics. Plus, the game board is flimsy cardboard. 2
