Customer Reviews

Perfect introduction to bicycling! This is THE bike to start little people on! No training wheels, just easy balancing. We started both our grandchildren on Striders when they turned 2. The oldest made a 5-minute transition to a regular pedal bike (without training wheels) at age 3 1/2. The youngest is just 2 1/2, but is comfortable and flies along on his Strider. The Strider is adjustable for height and light enough for a 2-year-old to pick up when it tips. We love how quickly this brings our littlest family members into biking. 5Buy this already!I bought this bike in red for my 18 month old boy. He is now 3.5 and went straight to a big boy bike-no training wheels needed! And now his 18 month old little brother is on the strider.. best purchase ever! Worth every penny!Side note: this bike is super light-easy for an 18 month old to maneuver around and light enough for me to carry it home when the kids get tired of riding. 5Great bike - review from a father of a 2 year oldI purchased this bike for my almost 3 year old son. He loves being outside and riding his tricycle, but I wanted to get him the balance bike because his older brother is having difficulties mastering the concept of the two wheel bike. He loves this bike. I was a little concerned that the lack of pedals would cause him to lose interest because he couldn't go as fast, but on the contrary he can push himself along and glide to go faster. He will not get off the bike and we've had it for two weeks now.He is a little tall for a 3 year old so I think we will need to purchase the larger seat accessory in the near future, but the box says it goes up to 5 years of age so I expect he will be using this for a while. It is solidly constructed, and the wheels are a solid plastic/rubber instead of tube. It has a very low center of gravity so he is able to control it very well. If your kid loves rolling around on things and being outside this is definitely a great choice for the ages before they move into the bigger bikes. 5Great, light weight balance bike.Love this bike. It's light enough that when my toddler would get tired I could pick it and carry him, his baby brother (in a baby carrier) and the bike home. We bought it for his second birthday, he couldn't ride more than a few minutes the first couple months, I think attention span was a factor. Before his third birthday he was riding two miles on a regular basis.People stop me to ask about the bike all the time.I recently bought a different brand of pedal bike to transition him to, but it's so much heavier. I wish I had bought the 14in strider with pedal option. 5Nice little bike with one major flawEdit: We don't live in a flat area, and this bike's lack of any kind of brakes is rapidly becoming a problem. If you live somewhere that isn't perfectly flat, beware; this bike can build up a lot of speed that your child might not be able to counteract. We got this for my two-year-old. He adores it, and is having a great time learning it...except for one thing. Every time he's ridden it, he's wanted to stop after only a couple blocks. This is a kid who rode his previous, smaller bike for literally a mile at a time. I was baffled until I looked more carefully at the bike. On the support bar by the back wheel, it has two strips of sandpaper, I suppose so kids who are cruising can put their feet up without them slipping. These pieces of sandpaper had been rubbing the inside of my toddler's calves. Sure enough, when I looked closer, he had scrapes there. No wonder kiddo didn't want to ride for long! I covered the sandpaper in tape for now, but talk about a major design flaw. I'm just glad I figured it out after a couple of rides--it's not like a two-year-old can clearly convey what's wrong.Overall, the bike seems sturdy and I'm sure we'll be using it for years to come, but cover the sandpaper in tape. Or better yet, the manufacturer could find another solution to putting something non-slip right there. 4We dig this lil bike!!I did my research before purchase and I'm my opinion.. this is the balance bike to get! Tires were a big issue on all the reviews.. this one does have the harder foam looking tires.. I was honestly concerned.. but took a chance.. the other one kinda comparable..."banana" I think.. had hard shiny plastic tires and tire reviews were terrible... slick on grass and gravel.. and the handle bars seemed oddly angled.. These tires on the strider bike are fine! And the handle bars look great .. And it was perfect height for our 18 month old who is not on the tall end of the spectrum, lol. We dig this bike! Glad we bought it!! Vroom vroom :) 5I've trained 3 kids to ride WITHOUT training wheels before the age of 3! A Must have!We have used Striders for our last three kids! There is no other way to go in my opinion! From experience brand matters! We purchased a wooden version and the seat did not adjust as well and it was too high for a long time! It also didn't move with as much ease as these! We've had three kids riding peddle bikes WITHOUT TRAINING WHEELS before the age of 3! People are amazed when they see my toddlers peddling down the street without training wheels! I sweat I deserve a commission for the amount of people that I've steered towards purchasing one of these bikes! There really is no other way to teach your child! Most kids don't learn how to ride without training wheels until they are five or older. In my opinion at that point they are too big to learn using this method as the bikes, although they adjust are built small. My kids always get them for their second birthdays and they've had no issue starting to learn! 5Best balance bike out there, hands down. You won't find a better bike than a Strider to teach your kids how to ride! They are lightweight, sturdy and easy to use. My kids started using them at about a year old, and my son was able to transition to a regular pedal bike (without training wheels) in a matter of thirty seconds before his 4th birthday. No joke. These bikes can also take a beating! When you have toddlers and preschoolers, these are bound to get left in places they aren't supposed to. We have accidentally run over my son's Strider with our car two times. Twice! We had to replace a few things on it, and have had to get new bearings for the wheels, but it is still going! It has been passed down to my next son. I recommend Striders to everyone. The only down fall is that it's made overseas. I'd much prefer a bike made in America. Maybe Strider will consider that one day, even if it costs slightly more. 5Great learning aidStrider bikes are great! My daughter struggled and struggled to transition from training wheels to a 2 wheeler. Literally months of trying and crashing... One day one of her friends dads stopped by and dropped off their strider. In 2 days our daughter switched to her 2 wheeler and was riding great! That same strider bike got passed around to about a dozen of their friends and taught them all to ride in a couple days to 2 weeks. They are pretty expensive for something you don t really need very long so get together with a group and get one to pass around. Once they can ride there is no reason to keep them on it. 5Not for smaller childrenWe bought this when my son was 18 months and he did not fit on it at all. At the smallest setting, he could not reach the handles from a seated position. I think he was around 33" tall. He is now 2 years old and almost 36" and he can barely reach. I don't think he has dinosaur arms. He's a pretty normal sized kid. He still likes to walk around with it, but he can't or won't sit down on the seat while he does it. But I guess that just means he'll be able to use it for a longer time? I'm looking forward to the day when he can just effortlessly glide along. That being said, easy to put together, sturdy construction, I think it will last a long time. 4
