Customer Reviews

Didn't last until the end of the partyI bought 18 of these for a pirate party for my 5 year old. I expected many to die the same death as our pirate foes, but I did not think all 18 would succumb to such a horrible fate. It's sad how much cheap plastic crap we buy from China just to forward it off to our landfills.Last year we bought LARP foam swords (for our Hobbit themed party). They were much more expensive, but not only survived the battle of 5 armies, most continue to slay orcs to this very day. 1Good for pretend play with my son, horrible qualityI am amending my review again b/c as much as these swords are fun and really do suit our purpose, the quality is just awful. As I originally stated my son loves to pretend to be a pirate or a knight or a musketeer, etc. These swords are the right solution for a play sword. I was looking for something soft that wouldn't actually cause any real physical harm when playing. We have tried inflatable swords and they just always get holes and deflate. We have used other miscellaneous items around the house: fake play knives and spoons, cardboard tubes, plastic and wooden mixing spoons, etc. They all worked ok for the moment, but the hard objects can hurt and the cardboard tubes just fall apart of course. These swords are good in the fact that they are soft and they are fun b/c they really look like swords. He loves them for that. And there's enough that the whole family can join in playing. I'm not worried about them doing any real damage either! That's where the positive stops though. After just one hour of play all of the handles broke :( They were exactly what I was looking for and they were inexpensive, so you can't expect them to last long anyway. But, to only last that long is just ridiculous. They could have increased the durability and quality by just extending the small plastic tube inside the sword down through the rest of the handle. It stops just short of the handle and that's why they break. There is nothing reinforcing the handle. It's just foam. So, of course, they will break easily. Especially the way boys play! After purchasing these I actually found a bunch at a local store of mine for only 25 cents each! And they have lasted us over a week already! Granted it was just by luck that I found those other swords, but they beat these ones in quality and durability by far. I would not recommend these swords on here to anyone. They are the least expensive option on Amazon, but they are not even worth it. The fact that they break so easily makes them useless. Don't buy these, look elsewhere! 2Father certified Awesome!I am highly skeptical of a lot of toys you buy on the internet. I got these swords because I have a 4yr old and 9 yr old that love swords. We, (not just them, we) play with these swords all the time. We have abused these swords and they are still going months later. I highly recommend them! A lot of similar products fall apart real easy. These swords have been through some serious battles with my kids and I! I consider them Father certified and approved for war! 5Very Cool SwordsI am having a fairy princess party for my daughter and wanted something that the boys may enjoy (girls are getting fairy wings). The party is in a couple weeks but our family has really enjoyed sword fighting since these arrived. They are firm enough to hold the sword shape but soft enough to be gentle no matter how rough the sword fighting becomes. We broke a couple just from vigorous sword play (tears on the handle). However I would rather the sword give out than cause any harm to the players. They are also well proportioned and really cool looking. My kids say there are ninja swords (blue handle) and pirate swords (red handle). We will be buying another set. 5Who doesn't like the art of fencing? In my house constant sword fighting is a must, hours of endless entertainment. It all started with two larger swords previously purchased from Amazon as well. Those things lasted for a long time, but with a lot of use, not just by children also the adults, they eventually fell apart. We then bought Nerf brand swords and those lasted a little longer, not by much. Well this then brought us to we needed some more and not just two so I settled on this 6 pack for my son as we never had enough for all the friends. These swords hardly lasted coming out of the plastic wrap, I've already duct taped two handles and the blade section has already come off of the plastic dowel rod that is inserted down the middle. They are not the worst quality I've seen, but definitely does not last for family/friends extreme sword fighting. 3Money well spent for me. My 5 year old son plays with these almost every dayThe best 12 dollars I have spent in a while. My 5 year old loves these swords and so does all of his friends. Now I am not usually promoting ninja fighting of any kind, but this foam material is very nice, because it's hard to get hurt. He has had them for almost a year, and I think we still have 4 of the six. Over time and lots of use, the handles broke. I did glue gun them back together and that was very simple and made them last longer. I couldn't give them 5 stars because you can get these cheaper. The price was right for me, because they came right to my door, and I needed them for his birthday party. I did recently find similar swords in target's $1 bin. So cost wise I guess I spent more then I needed to, but the convenience of getting them right to my door in 2 days sealed the deal for me. They have stayed together longer then I thought, and have provided hours of entertainment. 4Short swordsThese swords are tiny! They are appropriate size for toddlers but not for children or adults for sure. I had bought these for my 4 year old's birthday party favors. I originally bought different ones but needed a few extra and didn't want to buy another dozen. I bought these bc I could get 6 at a time. These are about half the other sword's size. It works out bc there a number of 1-2 year olds coming to the party who I can give these to- and they actually look more age-appropriate. I didn't pay close enough attention to the stated measurements so I will admit the length is totally as advertised. But just be aware that most foam swords out there are 27". 3These are fun!I bought these as a set, even though I only needed 1. They are fun to play with and we have mini sword fights with my 2 yr old. I also made him a pillow shield to go with it. I like to use this to get the wiggles out during the winter, but we also used it for the outfit I made him for RennFest this past Fall (Note: they don't like you to bring your own weapons so we ended up getting it taken from us later, ugh. Good thing we got this big set!) 5Lots of fun for fighting child hoardsThey arrived in a timely manner and undamaged. My kids and I have tons of fun fighting. They bend but whatever, they're foam and inexpensive. Would definitely purchase again. 4Great alternitive to wooden stick. My kids loved these and so did our party guests. Loved seeing my son chase our doggies with it, much better than a stick or a board. They don't hurt if struck with it (kids can be careless). My only complaint is the handles aren't always sturdy. My kids can be pretty rough with toys. I've had to fix two handles. Nothing some electrical tape can't handle. Kids also love to chew on these. Keep an eye out because teeth will shred these apart. 4
