Customer Reviews

Super Game, very entertainingThis is such a great game! Toddler to maybe about 10 years old. Good way for the young ones to learn how to read. Cards you draw are all in rhyme so much fun. Easy game to play but very entertaining. I buy this often for little ones on my list. 5TE WINNING MOVEThis game is a lot of fun and noone is eight or less .i warned them of the age group it was made fpr before we started. We were 10 plus. you only . think you no who will win.You don't! 5Love this sweet simple game!My sister and I had this game in the 1970's and really enjoyed it. My nearly 6 year old son was struggling with learning higher level numbers and so we've purchased a couple of games to help with number recognition. This one is a huge winner for him! He loves the artwork of the board and the characters he meets on the way to Doc possum's house. Game play is simple and easy to learn. Draw a card and move your Uncle wiggly piece the appropriate spaces. It doesn't hold the same charm that my sister and I enjoyed when we were kids...the story/poem cards aren't as enchanting...but, my kid doesn't know that and he loves everything about this game. His teenage sister doesn't mind playing with him because game play is pretty quick. The quality of the board is very good. Very glad I purchased it. 5Great classic board game with counting practice bonusBeen on a board game kick with my four and a half year old and we love this one! He really enjoyed the race to 100 and its great for working on beginning counting skills by navigating the board. He wanted to play it over and over! I loved the classic board game aspect too. 5Game changed dramaticallyThis game is not the game I played as a child. The old card verses were funny. These new ones are just boring. The character of Uncle Wiggly has been erased from the game. Sad. 1Childhood favoriteSo happy to have found this beloved, childhood game. If only I had my original version. However, I m happy to add this to our collection. I played this game for hours as a child. 5It's not the vintage gameI ordered this for my adult kids because we adored a vintage version of this when they were growing up. Little did I know that the game has been 'updated' several times. This is a modern game that is almost completely different than the 1967 version we love. This one has no references to the old Uncle Wiggly stories. If you love the old game you must look for a vintage set on ebay. 3A good game for small childrenI bought this for my five-year-old daughter who was in need of more games that were easily understandable for her age. This one is just that. It's very easy to understand even as a first-time player. It is a basic move around the board game, somewhat like Candyland. As far as game play, you draw a card, read the poem on it, and do as it says. Each card will tell you how many spaces to move and whether to move forward or backward. If you land on one certain spot on the board, you can follow the rabbit hole which allows you to advance forward quite a bit. If you land on a couple of other spots, you must move backward. This is one of the few perils you come across in the game: either drawing one of the move backward cards or landing on one of those spots. However, if you land on a space that is already occupied by an opponent, you take their place and knock them back one space.I gave this game four stars because it is fun enough for a five-year-old and it's easy to understand. I deducted one star because there are not enough perils in the game, which basically means everyone moves forward most turns and that's it. The perils are what add excitement to the game, but there aren't many "move backward" spaces on the board, very few in the deck of cards, and landing on an opponent only makes them move back one space. I might be too simplistic and dull for anyone over the age of five.As for learning elements, you can use it for teaching math. Say your child is on space 9 and draws a card telling him to move forward ten spaces, instead of counting each space on the board as he hops forward, you could make him figure out 9 plus 10 in his head and advance to the space. It can also be used for number identification for younger children. And with all games, it's a good way to teach turn-taking and patience.Overall, the game illustrations and poems are cute and the game is a good one for small children, but it is a bit basic and lacking in excitement. 4Wiggly!My son thinks this game is awesome. He's just learning to read, but the cards are simple enough that he can read them. He's learning to add with the numbers, too. Though this game is way more boring than I remember from when I was six, he loves it and I highly recommend it.Now, if I can only get him to stop whining when he loses. Dr. Possum disapproves. 5A perfect accompaniment to the Uncle Wiggly storybooksMy 3 year old loves the Uncle Wiggly stories and this game is one of his favorites. It is a basic follow-the-path board game, with the storybook characters along the way. Good for basic counting skills and turn-taking. I understand the original version was more complex and "exciting", but this is perfect for the preschool crowd. 5
